The Boneyard - Since the 1940’s,
the Yesco Corporation has been creating unique neon signs for Nevada
casinos and businesses. When these businesses were closed or renamed,
the old signs would often be retired to the Yesco Corporation “Boneyard”
where they would sit waiting for donations to have them restored to
their original glory. To date eight classic signs have been restored
and are on display in and around the downtown area of Fremont Street.
The Boneyard has
never been open to the public… until May 24, 2003. For this one day
only, you
could sign up to take a tour of the famous but never seen
by the public Neon Boneyard. I
immediately signed up for this tour as soon as I learned about it, and I
brought my camera. These photos have never been seen before except
occasionally in television documentaries and movies, but even then not
as complete a collection as I have assembled for you here.
